  • Samuel Gould, Jr. and his sisters Barbara and Harlean have returned after a short visit in Anderson, Ind., with Samuel’s little daughter Angela on her birthday. They also visited other relatives, John M. Stevenson and Era S. Case went with them.
  • The Missionary Society of Jacobs Chapel Church is having a Missionary Day program Sunday, July 9, at 3pm at the church. All friends of the church are cordially invited. Mrs. Maggie Swain is president and the Rev. O. McJunkins, pastor.
  • There will be a special meeting at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Childersburg on Sunday, July 9, at 6pm. Guest speaker will be R. E. Strickland. The Rev. D. G. Murry is the pastor, Frank Garrett will deliver the sermon. Everyone is invited to attend.
  • On Saturday, July 8, the Sensational Starlight Singers of Pell City will sing at the A.I.O. Church of God in Lincoln. The time will be 7:30pm. Sister Jessie L. Wills is the sponsor; pastor is Elder W. D. Harmon.
  • Mrs. Josephine Harton is viting her parents in the city, Mr. and Mrs. Minus Canaday. She will return next Wednesday, July 5, to her new home in New Orleans.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Columbus Sims and son were recent house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alford Sims.
  • The memorial chapter of Sorrow No. 11 will have a meeting at Bethlehem Methodist Church in Knoxville at 7:30pm July 9. All Stars and Masons are asked to be present.The public is invited. Mrs. Effie McGregor, G.D.D.; Mrs. Sudie Jemison, W. M; Mrs. L. M. Simmons, W. M.
  • Ethel Chapter No. 75, O.E.S. invites the public to a fish fry and weiner rest July 4 at 3pm at the Masonic Hall on 25th St.
  • All members of the Beavers Pride Lodge No. 716 are asked to be present Wednesday night, July 5, for an important business meeting. W. M. Cunningham, W.M.
  • The Women’s Recreational Club will sponsor a ball game at 5pm Thursday at College Park. The Adams Cats will play the Frazier Farm Kittens. The public is invited.
  • The Mt. Olive Baptist Church, of Childersburg will have a program at 6pm Sunday, July 3. The Rev. D. G. Murry is pastor. Frank Garrett will be the guest speaker.
  • Funeral services for Clarence Johnson of Caleis will be announced later.
  • Funeral services for Willis Wright of Eastaboga will be Wednesday at pm at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Oxford, the Rev. Mr. Parker officiating.
  • The third anniversary of the Union Spring Senior Chorus will be held at 6pm Sunday, July 9. All chorus groups are invited.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ostella Curry and daughter, Margaret of Akron, Ohio, are visiting in th city. While here they are house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duncan on West Battle.
  • A revival began, at St. Luke Baptist Church in Sylacauga on Sunday, July 2, and will continue through Friday, July 7. Some of their guest ministers are the Rev. James Garrett, Rev. J. C. Saxon and Rev. G. Cook.
  • Miss Erma Jean Carmichael, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Carmichael, is visiting in Hempstead, NY.
  • There will be a barbecue at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Carmichael on July 4.
  • The 45th annual session of the American Relief Society will be held in Bremen, Ga., on July 27 and 28.
  • The Daughter Elks’ business meeting which is usually held on the first Tuesday night will be postponed until Tuesday, July 11, Mrs. Mattie Simmons, D.R. announced.
  • Mr. and Mrs. James Mullin of Chicago are visiting Mrs. Mullin’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bovie Davis. Mr. Mullin is the former public relations manager of Talladega College and Mrs. Mullins worked there in the business administration office.
  • The Star Duster Club will meet next Wednesday, July 5, at the home of Mrs. Alma Hardnick, Mrs. Mary Moore, president, announced.
